New ED for IMAC

My name is Jim Bruce and I have recently been hired to be the new Executive Director at IMAC. Stepping into Lennie MacPherson’s boots will be a challenge but I’m looking forward to working side-by-side with Dave Ward and Louise Lalonde, both of whom represent a wealth of experience that amazes me as much as their commitment to sharing it with so much passion through the IMAF and Screenwriter’s Bootcamp.

My career has been in advertising. I studied Fine Arts at Concordia in Montreal,worked as an art director in Toronto and then went on to manage creative departments for McCann Erickson and Ogilvy & Mather in Mexico, the Caribbean and in Europe. Oddly enough, I ended up living and working on a lot of islands – Dominican Republic,Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados and Malta before deciding to move to this island, one that I cycled across in my early twenties and never forgot.

IMAC is hosting a series of workshops in locations across PEI for beginner and intermediate media artists in the areas of:

Editing
Motion Graphics
Digital Photography
After Effects

Workshops are $15/IMAC Members and $25/non-members.

Seeking New ED

After a very fulfilling year as Executive Director at IMAC, I will be moving on to other projects. This means that we at the IMAC are looking for a replacement. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a well-established, vibrant arts organization. There is a great board, with plenty of experience, and many enthusiastic volunteers to help the new director along. Wishing the IMAC and the new director all the best.

Cultural Capital Media Arts Legacy Series

The Cultural Capital Media Arts Legacy Series saw the production of 5 new films (all by IMAC members!) These films screened on Nov. 25th at the Confederation Centre. What a great night it was.

PEI Screenwriter’s Bootcamp Begins!

The 5th annual edition of the PEI Screenwriter’s Bootcamp is underway (June 13-17th). Emerging and mid-career writers from across the 4 Atlantic Provinces are being mentored by industry professionals in the areas of Writing Features, Writing Adaptations, and Writing for the Small Screen.

Mentors this year are: Ken Chubb, Jenifer Podemski, Jill Gollick, and Tom Shoebridge.
