The amazing annual PEI Screenwriter’s Bootcamp has added on a special workshop open to the public and all levels of screenwriters this year; “The Visual Mindscape of the Screenplay”. Taking place May 24 and 25th to coincide with The Island Media Arts Festival. Train with Hollywood screenwriting guru Bill Boyle!

IMAC Member Photo Exhibit

A joint Photography Exhibition of the works of two IMAC members (Sean Berrigan and Adnan Saciragic) is opening Wednesday May 1st at 7pm at The Gallery at The Guild (corner of Richmond St. and Queen St. Charlottetown).

This exhibit runs until May 31st and will adorn the walls for receptions and parties during the 4th annual Island Media Arts Festival.

Sean’s “Levitas” is a surrealist photo series based around the visual act of levitation and the wonder and beauty of humans doing such feats in their natural environments.

Adnan’s “I Was There” is a body of work that openly documents his life. The images are a reflection of is time – the events, people and places he has (un) intentionally come across.

CBC 321 Award

The CBC has announced the PEI 321 Award for 2013! The 321 Award will provide $3000 to a winning Producer/Director team from PEI to produce a short film.

Long-standing IMAC member Louise Lalonde won a 2013 WWAVE Award at the Women Making Waves conference in Halifax recently. Women Making Waves is a conference put on by the Atlantic Chapter of Women in Film and Television. Louise Lalonde has contributed greatly to the media arts sector on PEI through many avenues, not the least of which is heading up thePEI Screenwriter’s Bootcamp for seven years running.

Shake those mid-winter blues with an old fashioned BYOM party. That’s BRING YOUR OWN MOVIE. If you have a short film that you’ve made, or something that you’re currently working on that you’d like others to see.. bring it along! DVDs or quicktime files work best.

All IMAC Members welcome!

The evening will entail some food and beverages, some hanging-out and some watching of one another’s films. Come on down and get to know the PEI filmmaking and media arts community.

Interim Executive Director Needed

IMAC is seeking a contract interim executive director for the period February 25 to May 31, 2013.

Working under the direct supervision of the IMAC board, duties include:

Staffing IMAC office four days a week (specific hours to be negotiated)
Administering IMAC equipment checkout and return
Dealing with mail, newsletters and other communications of the Co-op
Handling the day to day business of the Co-op including managing memberships, preparing invoices and paying bills
Managing the projects of the Co-op as directed by the board
Preparing reports to funders
Managing IMAC members access to the facility
Reporting the status of the organization and its finances to the board

Remuneration is $500/week for the duration of the contract

How to Make a Documentary – Workshop

On January 19th, IMAC will present a workshop on how to make a documentary film. This workshop will be instructed by Mark Sandiford and Millefiore Clarkes and is an introduction to the craft of planning out and shooting a documentary. The workshop will focus on the techniques of interviewing, film and recording, how to relate as an interviewer or merely an observer, and discuss what kinds of cameras, sound recording and lighting is best for what situation or scenario. Writer’s Round Table

Wednesday, December 12 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the theatre of The Guild

IMAC will host the first in a series of ’round-tables’ for writers to table their scripts (finished or work-in-process) for constructive but professional feedback and critique from their peers. Writers can present scripts and concepts for any kind of work as long as they bring at least six copies of the script they wish to present for their ‘table’ to review with them. Tables will be kept small to allow each group to concentrate on what they are being presented and to allow for in-depth analysis, discussion and the open sharing of opinion.

For all those who really wonder how a potential audience would react to their work this is an excellent opportunity to find out how your work impacts and what reaction it creates – for those more experienced writers trying something different, you’ll get the feedback you are looking for!

Admission is free and open to members and non-members and there will be a cash bar. See you there!
